In Fayzabad, Afghanistan, a series of earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.3 and 4.4 on the Richter Scale occurred on Wednesday and Thursday, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The seismic activity intensified concerns about the region's stability, especially as this marked the third earthquake in Afghanistan within a week.

The first earthquake, measuring 4.4 in magnitude, struck at 00:28:52 IST at a depth of 80 km, with its epicenter located 126 km east of Fayzabad. The second quake, measuring 4.3 in magnitude, occurred at 00:55:55 IST, with a depth of 100 km and an epicenter 100 km east-southeast of Fayzabad. The third earthquake, reported on Thursday at 01:12:11 IST, had a magnitude of 4.3 and a depth of 120 km, further contributing to the heightened seismic activity in the region.

The NCS shared the earthquake details on social media platforms, stating, "Earthquake of Magnitude:4.3, Occurred on 04-01-2024, 01:12:11 IST, Lat: 38.24 & Long: 74.31, Depth: 120 Km, Location: Afghanistan."
