In a remarkable turnaround, Bangladesh clinched their first-ever ODI win against New Zealand on Saturday, dominating the third match of the series and securing a convincing nine-wicket victory. Despite losing the first two ODIs and conceding the series, Bangladesh ended on a high note by avoiding a whitewash in emphatic fashion.

Opting to field after winning the toss in Napier, Bangladesh's bowlers demonstrated their prowess, living up to Kiwi coach Gray Stead's warning of an improved bowling attack in away conditions. The New Zealand batting lineup faltered, managing only 98 runs before being bowled out in 20.2 overs, marking their lowest ODI score against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh pacers, led by Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Soumya Sarkar, claimed three wickets each, while veteran Mustafizur Rahman secured the remaining wicket. Tanzim, with figures of 3/14, was duly recognized as the Player of the Match.

Chasing a modest target of 99, Bangladesh demonstrated efficiency in their pursuit, with skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto's unbeaten 51 leading the charge. Despite a momentary setback when opener Soumya Sarkar retired hurt due to an issue with his right eye, Shanto and Anamul Haque's partnership of 69 runs guided Bangladesh to a comprehensive victory in just 15.1 overs.
