Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra: Congress Unites, Traversing 15 States, Targeting 100 LS Seats Within 2 Months
Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

The Congress party has rebranded its upcoming yatra from Manipur to Mumbai as the "Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra," with an invitation extended to all INDIA alliance leaders. Led by senior MP Rahul Gandhi, the extensive journey will span 15 states, 110 districts, and 100 Lok Sabha seats, covering a distance of approximately 6,713 km over 66-68 days. Originally planned for 6,200 km across 14 states, the route has been expanded to include Arunachal Pradesh.

The logistics and specifics of the yatra were meticulously discussed during a three-hour meeting attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries, state in-charges, state Congress presidents, and Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leaders. Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh announced the inclusive nature of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, inviting participation from INDIA alliance parties, Congress allies in different states, and civil society organizations. The unveiling of the yatra's logo and theme song is anticipated in the coming days.

The journey's spotlight will shine brightly on Uttar Pradesh, where the party will spend 11 days covering 1,074 km across 20 districts. The route encompasses high-profile Lok Sabha constituencies, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Varanasi, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s Rae Bareli, and Rahul’s former seat Amethi, presently represented by Union Minister Smriti Irani. Unlike the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, this expedition will not feature a permanent group of Congress workers and leaders marching with Rahul, and there will be fewer container vans for yatris to spend the night in. Yatris are expected to walk 8-9 km daily, covering around 80 km by bus, while Rahul is scheduled to deliver two speeches each day.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, addressing the meeting, emphasized the need for relentless effort to provide an alternative government in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He urged the identification of strong support bases in areas where the party is relatively weak. Emphasizing leadership development, particularly in constituencies dominated by Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minorities, Kharge stressed the importance of preserving the names of eligible voters from these communities on electoral rolls. Additionally, he called for the mobilization of migrant voters to ensure their participation in the democratic process.

The yatra's extensive route includes states such as Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. It will culminate in Mumbai on March 20 after traversing 480 km across six districts. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is poised to galvanize support, bolster the party's presence, and set the stage for the upcoming electoral battle.
