BJP Unveils 2nd Lok Sabha Poll List, Featuring ML Khattar, Anurag Thakur, Piyush Goyal As Candidates
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will contest from Nagpur, and Pralhad Joshi will run from the Dharwad seat in Karnataka. BY Raghavendra, son of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa, will contest from Shimoga.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its second roster of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on March 13, featuring 72 nominees, including notable figures such as Anurag Thakur, former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Basavaraj Bommai, Piyush Goyal, and Anil Baluni.
Tejaswi Surya, the party's youth wing chief, secured a nomination for Bangalore South, while former Karnataka chief minister Basavraj Bommai will contest from Haveri. Anurag Thakur, serving as the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, will run from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, and Anil Baluni is fielded from Garhwal in Uttarakhand, among other significant nominations.
Furthermore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Wadiyar of the erstwhile Mysore royal family replaced Pratap Simha for the Mysore Lok Sabha seat. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will contest from Nagpur, and Pralhad Joshi will run from the Dharwad seat in Karnataka. The second list also sees the re-nomination of three Union ministers and three chief ministers, with candidates representing 11 states and union territories across India.

Notably, several entrants who switched allegiance to the BJP from other parties are featured in the list. Former BRS leaders Seetaram Naik, Shanampudi Saidireddy, Godam Nagesh, and Congress leader Gomasa Srinivas recently joined the BJP ranks.
In Uttarakhand, former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will contest from Haridwar, and Anil Baluni will run from Garhwal (Pauri).
Previously, the BJP released its initial list earlier this month, comprising over 190 candidates. With the unveiling of the second list, the BJP's tally now stands at 267 names for the upcoming general election. The party's diverse selection of candidates from various regions and backgrounds reflects its strategic approach to fielding nominees across India.
