Houston Astros and José Altuve, their star baseman, have reached a significant agreement, extending his contract for five years until 2029. While the financial details remain undisclosed, the multiyear deal ensures Altuve's continued presence with the team.

The Astros announced the extension without specifying the financial terms. However, it is known that Altuve will receive a $15 million signing bonus, pending Major League Baseball's approval. His annual salary will be $30 million from 2025 to 2027, followed by $10 million for both 2028 and 2029.

Despite facing injuries last season, Altuve maintained impressive statistics, hitting .311 with 15 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases in 90 games. Notably, Altuve played a pivotal role in the Astros' World Series victories in 2017 and 2022, earning him recognition as the AP Male Athlete of the Year in 2017.

With this extension, Altuve solidifies his position as a cornerstone player for the Astros, making him the first second baseman in baseball history to surpass $300 million in career earnings."
