The much-awaited sequel of Kamal Haasan's 1996 film 'Indian' (Hindustani), 'Indian 2' is releasing in theaters on July 12. Shankar once again directs the film. 'Indian 2' has a great star-cast. The film will feature Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shanka and Deepa Shankar among many other prominent actors. The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

The trend quickly gains popularity on social media, and Indian Dada makes a comeback. This time, he punishes the corrupt in Gujarat, Odisha and other parts of the country in the most bizarre ways. Indian Dada urges his followers to adopt Gandhian ideology and expose the corrupt people, while he upholds the ideals of Netaji. However, this decision soon backfires. What happens next forms the main part of the story.

Positive Points

Kamal Haasan's performance in the film is extremely impressive. He has played his character well and has managed to draw the audience to him. The cinematography and action sequences of the film are also attractive, which keep the audience engaged. Apart from this, the social message of the film is also important and attempts to raise awareness against corruption.

Negative Points

To be frank, 'Indian 2' is perhaps the weakest entry in director Shankar's filmography. The film seems like a three-hour WhatsApp forward that shows the corruption present in all sectors. Bribery is central to the script. Whether it is getting a government job or getting a contract for a granite quarry, money is important. Many scenes in the film are extremely weird and unrealistic, such as killing corrupt people using Varmam techniques. The vibe of these scenes and their presentation is ridiculous. Even Siddharth's story seems artificial and forced.

Overall

'Indian 2' has tried hard but falls short on several counts. Shankar fans may be disappointed but it is worth a watch for Kamal Haasan's performance and the film's social message. The film attempts to raise awareness against corruption but loses its edge due to several unrealistic and stretched scenes.
