A fierce controversy erupted following a contentious social media post by Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, targeting Kangana Ranaut, the BJP candidate from Himachal Pradesh's Mandi Lok Sabha seat. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu waded into the fray, referring to Ranaut as the "daughter of Himachal," amid widespread backlash over Shrinate's deleted post.

CM Sukhu emphasized Ranaut's familial ties to Himachal Pradesh, noting her parents' residence in the state and her father's past role as the General Secretary of Congress in Mandi. The BJP's decision to nominate Ranaut as its Lok Sabha candidate further intensified the political landscape in the region.

The contentious episode unfolded when an objectionable post featuring Ranaut surfaced on Shrinate's Instagram account, drawing sharp criticism. Shrinate defended herself, attributing the post to unauthorized access to her social media accounts and promptly deleting it upon discovery. Ranaut, en route to the BJP headquarters in Delhi, expressed her disappointment, asserting the importance of dignity for every woman, irrespective of their profession.

The dispute intensified as Shrinate's post referenced Mandi, known as 'Chota Kashi' for its religious significance, in a derogatory manner. BJP leaders rallied behind Ranaut, with former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur condemning the remarks and announcing legal action against the perpetrators. Thakur underscored the potential electoral ramifications, warning of repercussions for the Congress not only in Mandi but across the state and beyond.

Thakur criticized Shrinate's conduct, highlighting the irony of a woman making disparaging remarks against another woman. He dismissed Shrinate's explanation of a compromised social media account, signaling the BJP's intent to pursue legal recourse.

The incident underscored broader tensions in the political landscape, with gender dynamics and regional sentiments coming to the fore. Ranaut's candidacy, coupled with the BJP's swift response to the controversy, highlighted the significance of identity politics and the stakes involved in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

As the dispute reverberates across Himachal Pradesh and beyond, it underscores the complexities of contemporary Indian politics, where personal attacks and social media skirmishes intersect with larger electoral narratives and regional identities.
