In a gripping start to the 2024 Formula 1 season, Max Verstappen showcased his dominance by clinching pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix after a fiercely contested qualifying session. The Red Bull driver's exceptional performance saw him set a blistering time of 1m 29.179s in his second Q3 run, ultimately securing a commanding lead over his rivals.

Verstappen's closest challengers were Charles Leclerc of Ferrari and George Russell of Mercedes, who finished within two-tenths and a tenth of a second behind respectively. Verstappen's teammate, Sergio Perez, could only manage fifth place, falling short of the top spot by nearly half a second.
Ferrari's Carlos Sainz joined Leclerc in the top four, underlining Ferrari's strong start to the season. Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso led the charge for Aston Martin in sixth position, followed by McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
Surprisingly, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton had to settle for ninth place in the second Mercedes, highlighting the intense competition at the front of the grid. The session ended in disappointment for Alpine, with Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly occupying the back row of the grid in 19th and 20th positions respectively. Despite their struggles, Ocon remained optimistic, offering words of encouragement to his team over the radio.
