In a historic development, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is poised to play a pivotal role in the groundbreaking program 'Mazdooron Ka Hit Mazdooron ko Samarpit' scheduled for December 25, 2023. Utilizing video conferencing, the Prime Minister will spearhead the event's central agenda—a momentous step involving the distribution of cheques amounting to approximately Rs 224 crore. This gesture signifies the resolution of prolonged dues owed to the workers of Hukumchand Mill in Indore, culminating a legal saga initiated after the mill's closure in 1992, leading to subsequent liquidation.
The instrumental role played by the Madhya Pradesh Government in achieving a positive settlement cannot be overstated. The settlement plan, hailed by stakeholders including courts, labor unions, and the affected mill workers, encompasses the upfront payment of all dues by the state government. Additionally, it involves the transfer of ownership of the mill land, earmarked for transformation into a combined residential and commercial space, underscoring a comprehensive approach to addressing the aftermath of industrial closures.

Prime Minister Modi is slated to address the gathering during the event, acknowledging the significance of this resolution and paying tribute to the resilience of the Hukumchand Mill workers. The program, aptly named 'Mazdooron Ka Hit Mazdooron ko Samarpit,' stands as a testament to the government's unwavering commitment to addressing the concerns of the labor force and facilitating equitable settlements.
Beyond the pivotal dues settlement, the Prime Minister will ceremoniously lay the foundation stone for an ambitious project—a 60 MW Solar Power Plant in the villages of Samraj and Ashukhedi in Khargone district. Spearheaded by the Indore Municipal Corporation, this solar power initiative, valued at Rs 308 crore, promises substantial savings of approximately Rs 4 crore per month in electricity bills for the corporation.
A notable aspect of this initiative is the innovative financing through green bonds. The Indore Municipal Corporation issued green bonds worth Rs 244 crore, marking a historic milestone as the first urban body in the country to do so. The response was overwhelming, with citizens from 29 states subscribing to bonds valued at about Rs 720 crore—triple the initial offering.
The collective efforts to settle Hukumchand Mill workers' dues and establish a sustainable solar power plant underscore the government's commitment to economic justice, sustainable development, and the promotion of environmentally conscious initiatives. This event is poised to mark a significant chapter in addressing longstanding industrial labor issues and advancing a cleaner, greener future.
