Ahead of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple inauguration on January 22 in Ayodhya, a warning has been issued by the Home Ministry regarding fraudulent activities offering VVIP darshan of Lord Shri Ram. Exploiting the excitement surrounding the event, cybercriminals are deploying scams involving a downloadable application (APK) named "Ram Janmabhoomi Grih Sampark Abhiyan."
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, under the Ministry, has released a video to alert the public, with Delhi Police's Cyber Crime Unit actively monitoring social media. Online fraudsters entice victims with promises of VVIP darshan, convincing them to download the deceptive APK. Subsequently, the criminals gain unauthorized access to account information, leading to illicit withdrawals from victims' bank accounts.

A rapidly circulating WhatsApp message encourages individuals to download the fraudulent APK, purportedly sent by Ram devotees to Hindu families. Upon downloading, the mobile device becomes vulnerable to hacking, resulting in significant financial losses. Authorities caution the public against falling prey to such scams during this auspicious event and emphasize the importance of vigilance.
