Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Abu Dhabi’s inaugural Hindu stone temple, amidst sacred chants and the presence of spiritual leaders from the Swaminarayan sect. Donning a light pink silk dhoti and kurta with a sleeveless jacket, Modi partook in the ceremony's rituals, dedicating the temple to the people.

He also engaged in the "Global Aarti," synchronized across 1,200 temples worldwide by the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). Modi met individuals from diverse faiths who contributed to the temple's construction, and symbolically offered water to the virtual Ganga and Yamuna rivers.

The temple, situated on a 27-acre site near Al Rahba, has been meticulously constructed using ancient architectural techniques mentioned in Hindu scriptures. Notably, no metal was used, and the foundation was filled with fly ash, reducing the carbon footprint. High-tech sensors installed throughout the temple monitor temperature, pressure, and seismic activity, aiding in research.

With 18 lakh bricks, seven lakh man-hours, and 1.8 lakh cubic meters of sandstone sourced from Rajasthan, the temple mirrors the Nagara style of architecture, akin to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Sandstone pieces were carved in Rajasthan and transported to Abu Dhabi. Additionally, Italian marble was shipped to India for carving before being brought back for interior use.

The temple, under construction since 2019 on land donated by the UAE government, marks Abu Dhabi's largest Hindu temple and the fourth in the UAE. It stands as a testament to cultural collaboration and architectural marvel, blending tradition with modern functionality.
