Taiwan Expo 2024 In New Delhi: Bridging Cultures And Boosting Business Ties Between Taiwan And India

After five years, the "Taiwan Expo in India 2024" is back in New Delhi. This event, which promotes economic and cultural exchanges between Taiwan and India, was inaugurated on July 8, 2024. Key figures like Cynthia Kiang, Director General of the International Trade Administration (TITA), and James Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), led the opening.
The Expo is taking place at the Bharat Mandapam (Pragati Maidan), Hall number 2, with 120 Taiwanese companies showcasing their products. Important guests at the event included Mr. Lalduhawma, Chief Minister of Mizoram; Mr. Richard Vanlalhmangaiha, a Member of Parliament from Mizoram; and Mr. Manish Sharma from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
James Huang shed light on Taiwan's aim to collaborate with India to give strength to supply chains and support initiatives "Make in India," "Digital India," and "Smart Cities." He stated that as Taiwan is a leader in chip manufacturing, its collaboration with India will lead to success in their collective endeavors. He also highlighted India's growth in the global manufacturing sector since 2018.
Cynthia Kiang noted that India is the second-largest manufacturer of footwear and textiles in the world. She explained that Taiwan is promoting "Cross-Industry Alliances," combining petrochemical, machinery, and textile industries to enhance marketing. At the Expo, special pavilions are showcasing Taiwan's smart and sustainable manufacturing solutions.

Bau Shuan Ger, Taiwan's Representative in India, expressed confidence in the growing partnership between Taiwan and India. Mr. Lalduhawma emphasized the potential for future cooperation between the two countries.
To help New Taipei City businesses expand in India, officials from the New Taipei City Government led 20 companies to set up the "New Taipei City Pavilion," focusing on smart cities, electronics, healthcare, and e-sports.
On the first afternoon, TAITRA organized a seminar and matchmaking event, involving representatives from Japanese companies and organizations to discuss business opportunities in India.
The Taiwan Expo 2024 runs from July 8 to 10, featuring 12 pavilions covering sectors like Electronics Manufacturing, Medical Biotechnology, Smart Lifestyle, and Smart Manufacturing. This year's Expo is larger than last year's in Mumbai and nearly back to pre-pandemic participation levels. Notable pavilions include those promoting tourism and showcasing high-tech solutions.
