Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has withdrawn from the 2024 US presidential race, throwing his support behind Donald Trump after a lackluster performance in the Iowa Republican caucuses. Ramaswamy, initially a political newcomer, gained attention among Republicans with strong stances on immigration and an America-first approach, closely mirroring Trump's strategy. In Iowa, Ramaswamy finished fourth with approximately 7.7% of the votes.

Born in Ohio to immigrant parents from Kerala, Ramaswamy emerged unexpectedly as a contender in a field still dominated by Trump. However, his fortunes took a turn as Trump publicly denounced him, calling him a "fraud" on Truth Social, asserting that voting for Ramaswamy meant supporting the "other side."

Despite his Harvard-educated millionaire status and previous success with the 2021 bestseller "Woke, Inc.," a critique of corporate decisions based on social justice and climate change concerns, Ramaswamy faced criticism from fellow Republican candidates. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, of Indian origin, took a jab at him during debates, stating, "Every time I hear you, I feel a little bit dumber."

Trump's triumph in Iowa solidified his lead for the Republican nomination, with Ron DeSantis securing second place ahead of Nikki Haley. Ramaswamy's departure marks a shift in the dynamic race as the 2024 US Presidential Elections unfold.
