More than 60 heads of state and government, along with hundreds of business leaders, are set to gather in Switzerland for the World Economic Forum's annual meeting from January 15-19. Notable attendees include Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, and U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The participants will address major global challenges, including ongoing conflicts such as the Israel-Hamas conflict and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as well as issues like climate change, disruptions to trade in the Red Sea, a weakened global economy, and concerns related to misinformation fueled by advancing artificial intelligence.

Trust in peace and security has eroded, with global cooperation experiencing a decline since 2016 and a significant drop since 2020, according to Forum President Borge Brende. The forum aims to bring together key figures to explore opportunities for cooperation and address the complex global landscape. Concerns about the escalation of the conflict in Gaza will be discussed, with key stakeholders aiming to find ways to prevent further deterioration.

President Zelenskyy will deliver an address, and over 70 national security advisers will convene to discuss strategies for advancing Zelenskyy's peace plan. The event will feature discussions led by prominent figures from various sectors, including U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Argentina President Javier Milei, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. However, the forum has faced criticism for being a platform where discussions may not always translate into tangible solutions for global challenges.
